While completing his graduate work, Brandon Haskett taught band, string orchestra, jazz band, and steel band at Kenilworth School (K-8) in Phoenix, Arizona for five years. Under his leadership the program grew to have approximately 120 students involved in the program. Students in the program were frequently selected for All State Band and All State Orchestra. Additionally, Haskett served as the coordinator of instrumental music for Phoenix Elementary School District No. 1 for four years. During his graduate work at Arizona State University, Haskett served as a teaching assistant teaching string techniques and as a research assistant on a Sounds of Learning Grant which examined the outcomes of a school district's music program.
Dr. Haskett holds a DMA in Music Education from Arizona State University, a MM in Music Performance (Percussion) from Arizona State University, and a BME in Music Education from Indiana University. He is a member of the National Association for Music Education, Georgia Music Educators Association, and Percussive Arts Society. His research focuses on non-Western community music ensembles and non-Western musical transmission. Additionally, Haskett has significant background working with curriculum and assessment issues in music education.
At North Georgia College & State University, Professor Haskett serves as Assistant Professor of Music Education, Coordinator of Woodwind and Brass Areas, and as the faculty coordinator for our CMENC chapter.
